Initial conversations with the client demonstrated a real passion for the app & it's scope to be able to teach people about the area. When starting the creative journey I wanted to produce a brand image that represented the heritage of the city that it was promoting. With this in mind, I wanted my creative output to be formed from points of interest within Oxford itself.
This involved the study of maps, landmarks & photographs of buildings within the city before the creation of any logos or creative campaign to make sure that the mark was formed organically from content interacted with.
Within this project you can see part of the journey undertook to get to the final result. Points were marked on maps to cover various points of interest whilst connecting lines drawn between them to see what shapes started to form before exploring it further and combining layers, textures and images to create different feelings and moods.
This lead to the formation of the brand image. I saw that different shaped were being created that I could use to develop interesting overlaid effects that could be flowed through into stationary and the app design itself.
